The laurel, ancient plant symbolising strength and victory

The laurel represents courage, strengthens self-confidence and intuition, and attracts success.
It has an ancient and fascinating history linked to the myth of Daphne and Apollo. The sun god Apollo suddenly fell in love with the nymph Daphne after being shot by Eros’s arrow.

The god of love also shot an arrow at the nymph Daphne but it was a love-killing arrow.

The god Apollo was unwilling to take the rejection and pursued Daphne, who turned herself into a laurel bush to escape.

Apollo, sad and in love, sat under a laurel tree and began to think how he could be with his beloved forever. He tore off a few laurel branches and made a crown to put on his head.

This gesture heartened him because he felt Daphne so close to him, the Olympian gods proclaimed him the winner of the duel with Eros.

The laurel thus became a symbol of victory; in antiquity, poets and victors were crowned with a crown made of laurel.
In modern times laurel wreaths are given to graduating students and laurel wreaths are used to adorn houses as a sign of protection and positivity. Such an ancient and representative symbol of Mediterranean culture could not be missing from our collections, we celebrated it by creating a wonderful ring made of laurel leaves.
