According to one version of the myth, the main one, the Arabian phoenix has become the symbol of death and resurrection.

Herodotus, an ancient Greek historian, and the ancients narrated that the phoenix was born every five hundred years, the only specimen of its kind, and then a new bird was born from its ashes.

A cameo is a piece of jewellery made by engraving a shell, in particular Cypraecassis rufa, Cassis madascarensis and Cassis cornuta, because these shells of the Cassis family have a surface consisting of two distinct layers of colour, which allows the figure in relief to be clearly isolated from the background. In Torre del Greco, near Naples, cameo work is still carried out by craftsmen from Torre del Greco who hand down the tradition from father to son.
